Just Be Maritime is very pleased to welcome Rachel Groves to our growing team in the role of Senior Training Officer (STO).
As one of our STOs, Rachel is actively involved in all operational activities related to our Officer Cadets under training, liaising and working closely with both the cadets and their sponsoring companies.
After completing her BA(Hons) degree in Music & Tourism Studies in 2008, Rachel was introduced to the Merchant Navy through a role with a training management company. This gave her a good initial understanding of Officer Cadet training from the start, with careers events on a local and national scale, and assisting with looking after a number of Officer Cadets for a well-known cruise line.
From 2010 Rachel then took the next step in her career and started working for Ship Safe Training Group as a Training Officer. During her time with SSTG, Rachel gained extensive experience in all aspects of Officer Cadet management, with responsibility for managing over 100 cadets on behalf of a range of shipping companies.
Rachel said “I’m really looking forward to this fresh challenge with Just Be Maritime, getting to know the existing cadets under training and working closely with the team on recruitment for the September 2024 and January 2025 intakes, as well as other development projects. I gain an enormous amount of satisfaction in supporting our Officer Cadets from their initial recruitment through to achieving their first professional certification.”
