Warsash Maritime School has a long and proud heritage in delivering education and training to professional seafarers, tracing its origins back to 1909 and having had a presence on the Warsash campus since 1946.

As part of Solent University, Warsash provides first class education, training, consultancy and research services to the international shipping, commercial yacht, and offshore oil and gas industries, to meet the international demand for crew, officers and captains who have been trained to the highest professional standards.

In 2012, Warsash increased its focus on those working in the superyacht industry by launching its Warsash Superyacht Academy, while in 2017 the delivery of education and training in support of professional certification for Officer Cadets and senior officers moved to a new campus in St Mary’s, Southampton.

Warsash has a range of specialist training facilities, including:

  • Full Mission Bridge Simulators and ECDIS suites
  • Full Mission Engine Room Simulator
  • High Voltage Switchboard room
  • Liquid Cargo Operations Simulator (LICOS)
  • Fully equipped fire school and fire ground
  • Radio Communications Centre
  • Engineering workshops, covering machining, fitting, power plant, electrics and welding
  • Pier head with lifeboats and davits
  • Pool facilities for survival training
  • Seamanship Centre
  • Ten-acre manned ship model lake
