To become a Navigation (Deck), Marine Engineer or Marine Electro-Technical Officer in the UK’s merchant navy, you must complete a maritime education and training programme to achieve professional seafaring certification and related educational qualifications, with training taking place at sea and at college.
To become a Hotel Trainee with a ferry company or cruise line, you will typically already have hotel working experience and hold or be undertaking suitable hospitality qualifications before being enrolled on an appropriate onboard development programme to prepare you for working in a passenger ship’s Hotel department.
