The Red Funnel Group was formed in 1861 and is a modern and highly successful travel and holiday company based in Southampton, UK.
Originally known as ‘The Southampton, Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited’, Red Funnel Ferries have proudly been operating ferries to and from the Isle of Wight for over 160 years.
While the original Isle of Wight ferry service between Cowes and Southampton was serviced by impressive looking paddle steamers, Â Red Funnel now operates an up-to-date fleet of purpose-built Ro-Pax vehicle ferries and Red Jet Hi-Speed passenger catamarans.
The company provides Isle of Wight ferry services for 365 days a year, with 30,000 combined sailings carrying 3.4m passengers and 0.86m vehicles annually.
We are currently taking applications for Red Funnel’s Officer Cadet intakes in January and September, which are operated as a joint venture in partnership with the Corporation of Trinity House.Â
Applicants must be EEA nationals and resident in the UK for a year prior to starting training.Â
Once you are ready to apply for a cadetship, please email your application letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) to us at [email protected], stating that you are interested in a Red Funnel/Trinity House cadetship and confirming your preferred training discipline (i.e. Deck Cadetship or Engineer Cadetship).
Over a three-year training period, Officer Cadets will follow academic programmes and shore-based training elements at a nautical college, while undertaking the required sea service and professional training aboard a range of different vessel types.
