Andrew Hair received the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service

Just Be Maritime is pleased to advise that our Commercial Director, Andrew Hair received the Merchant Navy Medal for Meritorious Service last week, in recognition of his services to maritime education and training.  

With the other eleven recipients in 2025, Andrew was honoured to be presented with this state award by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Master of The Corporation of Trinity House, at their central office on Tower Hill, London.

The other recipients represent a broad cross-section of the UK maritime industry and were recognised for the following services:

  • Captain Philippa Ann Bowden – For services to education and safety
  • Captain James Kenneth Charles – For services to education and training
  • Ms Sharon Coveney – For services to safety and welfare
  • Captain Phillip James Day – For services to safety and welfare
  • Ms Claire Louise Guy – For services to education and training
  • Captain Ian Love – For services to education and training
  • Captain Iain Norman MacKenzie – For services to safety and community
  • Captain Christopher Francis Phillips – For acts of bravery at sea
  • Captain Hywel Jones Pugh – For services to safety and welfare
  • Mr Julian Seaman – For services to safety and welfare
  • Captain Martin Andrew Willis – For services to education and training

After the formal event, Andrew said “This was an incredibly special day for all of the recipients and their families.  It was an honour to be presented with the award by The Princess Royal, and a privilege to have the opportunity to talk to Her Royal Highness, the other award recipients and invited guests at the reception which followed.”
